European Cobra Meeting 2012

Hello Cobra friends,
My name is Dick Vesters and I am the Cobra Club Nederland (CCN) secretary. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the last European Cobra meeting in Slovenia. I still have very fond memories of this well organized event. During the last evening we announced that the Dutch Cobra club (CCN) would organize the next European Cobra meeting in 2012.


We have set the dates for Friday 31st August, Saturday 1st September, Sunday 2nd September, a full 3 day event with a lot of activities planned. We are sure that we have found the very best place to hold it. The venue is a new Formula 1 stock car racing circuit (oval) near Venray in the Netherlands. 2012 will be in more than one aspect a memorable Cobra year and we are sure that it will be the best so far. 2012 will also mark the 50 year anniversary of the Cobra, and the 20th anniversary of our Dutch Cobra club.


Here is your invitation for all European Cobra and Daytona (original or replica) drivers to sign on and book this very special three day event. There will be a rock-band who will play the one and only Cobra guitar in the world! This special hand made Cobra guitar was auctioned at the Slovenian Cobra meeting this year. We are still in the process of gathering more ideas, negotiating prices with several organizations and planning activities, etc. This means that the detailed content is still being developed but the overall plan has already been decided. So what kind of activities will be available?


The oval circuit is situated in a rather “remote” location and is fully fenced and guarded. Why is this important? It will be possible to park your Cobra or Daytona overnight on the inner circuit. You cannot beat that for safety. It should be possible to hire the pit boxes, so we can provide against extra cost, for some of you if you wish, an even better overnight Cobra or Daytona parking place or a dry place to carry out small repairs. There will be all kind activities on the circuit itself. (Please see the schematic overview of the circuit and its facilities.)


All the activities, except the tours, will be on and around the circuit. We are still negotiating prices and accommodation with several hotels in the vicinity. The planned setup will be that everyone will book his or her own room for the three night stay and breakfast for a special fixed price. Everyone will be transported to and from the circuit and the hotel in the morning and in the evening each day.
